Is the camel ride mandatory?
No, the camel ride is optional but highly recommended for the full Sahara experience. The sunset trek lasts about 1.5 hours (round trip to and from the luxury desert camp). A 4x4 transfer to the camp is available upon request for a small additional fee.
What should I pack?
Pack light: comfortable clothing, warm layers (desert nights are cold), sunscreen, sunglasses, a scarf or hat, sturdy walking shoes, a power bank, and your camera. Avoid hard suitcases—soft bags are easier to store in the vehicle.
Do camps have private bathrooms?
Yes. Our luxury desert camps in Merzouga feature private tents with real beds, thick blankets, and en-suite bathrooms with hot showers and flush toilets. All facilities are cleaned daily and meet international comfort standards—far from basic camping.
Is this a private tour?
This tour is offered as a private experience by default. Whether you're traveling as a couple, a family, or a small group, you’ll have your own dedicated vehicle and guide. The maximum group size per vehicle is 12 travelers, but we can easily accommodate larger parties with 2 or 3 vehicles—no problem at all. Even if it’s just two of you, you’ll still enjoy a fully private tour with no strangers. There’s no extra charge for privacy—it’s included in the price you see.
Can you handle dietary restrictions?
Yes! All meals are freshly prepared using local, hygienic ingredients. We gladly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly diets—just let us know at the time of booking.
What time do we return to Marrakech?
You’ll arrive back in Marrakech between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM, depending on traffic and photo stops. We recommend not booking flights before 10:00 PM on your return day.
Is there Wi-Fi in the desert?
Mobile signal is limited in the Sahara (Maroc Telecom has the best coverage). There is no Wi-Fi at the desert camp—but that’s part of the magic! Your driver carries a satellite phone for emergencies.
Can I skip the camel ride?
Yes. If you have mobility concerns or prefer not to ride a camel, a 4x4 transfer to the luxury camp in Erg Chebbi is available for a small supplement (approximately $15–20 per person).
Is it suitable for solo women or seniors?
Absolutely. Many solo women and travelers aged 60+ join this luxury Sahara desert tour. Our drivers and guides are professional, respectful, and trained in safety protocols. The pace is moderate and not physically demanding.
Why Merzouga over Zagora?
Merzouga is home to Erg Chebbi—one of Morocco’s largest and most dramatic dune fields, with golden sands rising up to 150 meters. It offers the iconic “Sahara” experience with breathtaking sunsets and star-filled skies. Zagora, while beautiful, features flatter, rocky desert terrain. For a 3-day tour from Marrakech, Merzouga delivers the most unforgettable desert adventure.
